What A Day!!

We had a concert at the Montevideo primary school today (Friday, 7/28/2017), which was extraordinary. There were one thousand students watching us preform, which seemed like a lot at first but, in truth it wasn’t so scary. I‘ve grown used to larger audiences over my time in BCS. The students were impressed with our performance and we got lots of hugs from them. We also had a pop-up performance in a Community Center (Langa Township) in a smaller area near the school—which in my opinion was cooler. We had a mixed audience of adults and children that were all so supportive. I bought some hand crafted espresso cups, which had cool elephant designs on it as well. A man who worked at the community center’s pottery described the process of pottery making to us. All the pottery was hand painted but some were made with stencils for college students at Rutgers University or other colleges (special order). After, we visited an impoverished area or Township where we performed again. One woman who was behind us told Derrick, Luke and I that she had seen us on television, which was surprising to me because I didn’t think that we would be seen on TV from thousands of miles away. South Africa is more advanced than I thought it would be. Anyways it was a wonderful experience, the children there were very into any movement parts of songs we preformed. We also saw someone who looked exactly like Adrian, hair and all. Well, I hope to get more sleep tonight, I was awakened by my roommate's alarm which he forgot to turn off the previous day. It’s funny how ten minutes of less sleep can throw off someone’s morning.

Well, hope everyone is doing well back in the States,

See ya!

Quote of the day:

“If had had not seen the choir…[only heard them…] I would had thought it was a South African Choir singing...” said one of the tour guides that saw our pop-up performance at the Community Center today.
